3 teachers standing together at last year's Health-a-Palooza. They're all wearing super hero clothing.

It’s been a busy season on the legislative front, and we’re so grateful for the families, staff, and community members who showed up, shared their stories, and stayed engaged throughout the process. Your voices made a difference.

Here’s where things currently stand: AB 84 and SB 494 did not move forward in the Senate. SB 414, a bill focused on improving oversight through audits and contracting practices, passed both the Assembly and the Senate and is now headed to the governor’s desk.

Much of what’s outlined in SB 414 reflects best practices we already follow as a school, including maintaining strong partnerships with our authorizers and working responsibly with our community partners. While we’ll continue to watch next steps closely, we’re encouraged that this bill supports transparency and accountability without disrupting the work we’re doing to serve students and families well.

The governor has until October 12th to sign, veto, or allow the bill to become law without a signature. As this moves forward, we’ll share updates and offer simple ways you can stay involved—whether that’s thanking legislators or reaching out to share your perspective.

We’re especially thankful to the teams at CSDC, CCSA, and APPLE for their work, and to all of you for staying informed and engaged. Our community’s shared commitment to high-quality, flexible learning makes a difference every day.

Thank you for being part of the process and staying engaged through every step!
